Osan City to Hold '100 Citizens Child Policy Ontact Discussion Forum' on the 25th
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Osan City will hold a "Citizen Participation Child Policy 100 Citizens Ontact (Ontact) Discussion Forum" on the 25th to establish its second-phase Child-Friendly City promotion four-year plan (2021-2024).
The forum will bring together 100 participants including children, child guardians, and Osan City child-related workers to discuss six areas of daily life derived from the child-friendliness survey conducted last year on approximately 2,400 Osan citizens: ▲play and leisure ▲participation and civic awareness ▲safety and protection ▲health and social services ▲educational environment ▲and residential environment.
The discussion will be divided into 12 groups, proceeding through small-group discussions in the six areas and full discussions on opinions proposed by each group, thereby presenting priority tasks for Osan City's child policies.
The priority tasks finally selected through the discussion will undergo a prioritization process through a child needs confirmation survey and will be reflected in the second-phase Child-Friendly City promotion four-year plan (2021~2024).
A city official stated, "Through this forum, we will discover policies suited to children's perspectives and create a child-friendly Osan where children's rights are respected and children are happier," adding that the city will continue to promote various activities online to ensure children's rights are protected even during the COVID-19 pandemic. The city is currently pursuing upper-level certification as a UNICEF Child-Friendly City in 2021.
