Suwon to Operate 'Saturday Suwon Humanities Travel' Online
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City announced on the 4th that it will operate '2020 Saturday Suwon Humanities Travel,' allowing citizens fatigued by COVID-19 to embark on a humanities journey online.
The 'Saturday Suwon Humanities Travel' running through the 17th is a humanities concert that invites experts from various fields such as history, tradition, and cultural arts to provide dignified lectures to citizens.
This year, Suwon City will operate it online using its official YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/suwonloves) to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
On the 3rd, a lecture by writer Kwon Mi-ru titled 'On Things More Beautiful Than Expected' was uploaded. Lectures by Kim Jun-hyeok, professor at Hanshin University's Jeongjo Liberal Arts College, titled 'History and Future of Suwon' (October 10th), and Kim Kyung-il, professor in the Department of Psychology at Ajou University, titled 'For a Life Full of Happiness Every Moment' (October 17th) will follow.
Writer Kwon Mi-ru, who authored the hanbok travel essay "Hanbok, Travel," will introduce special stories from her world travels during the lecture, including experiences such as climbing the Himalayas while wearing hanbok.
Professor Kim Jun-hyeok will lecture on leadership needed in our era based on a reinterpretation of King Jeongjo, and Professor Kim Kyung-il will shed light on people living restrained lives facing reality and introduce attitudes and methods for living a happy life.
The lecture videos will be uploaded to Suwon City's official YouTube channel at 10 a.m. on the day of each lecture and will be posted until December 31st.
A city official stated, "By operating the Saturday Suwon Humanities Travel online this year, which has been held annually since 2015, more citizens will be able to participate," and added, "We hope that Saturday Suwon Humanities Travel becomes a vaccine to comfort the hearts of citizens exhausted by COVID-19."
