Suwon to Conduct Comprehensive Overhaul of Bicycle Parking Racks by May Next Year

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City announced on the 23rd that it will proceed with a "comprehensive overhaul of bicycle parking racks."

The comprehensive overhaul will be conducted on 856 bicycle parking rack locations throughout the city from next month through May next year.

As requests (complaints) related to new installations and removal of bicycle parking racks have increased recently, the city is conducting a survey for repositioning bicycle parking racks.

Additionally, the purpose is to survey the current status of bicycle parking racks installed on major roads in the city, maintain deteriorated and damaged racks, and create a more pleasant usage environment.

The comprehensive survey and maintenance of bicycle parking racks will be carried out in stages. Stage 1 is a field survey from next month through March next year. Deteriorated and damaged facilities will be identified, and areas with high bicycle user traffic will be examined.

Through Stage 2, which will take place over one month starting in March next year, the quantity of bicycle parking racks to be relocated, replaced, and newly installed will be calculated.

From April to May, Stage 3 will involve relocating and installing new parking racks, and maintaining deteriorated and damaged facilities.

Through this project, the city expects to reduce costs by relocating bicycle parking racks from roads with low bicycle usage rates to areas with high demand for bicycle parking, rather than installing new ones.
