[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] A private taxi driver in Suwon City delivered 1 million won in charity funds to Suwon City, saying, “Please use it for neighbors in need.”

Taxi driver Kim Kyung-ho (64) visited City Hall on the 17th and donated 1 million won in charity funds that he had saved. The funds Kim donated are set to be delivered to underprivileged neighbors, including low-income households, through the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea.

Kim said, “Because of COVID-19, not only the taxi industry but everyone is in a difficult situation, yet thanks to the citizens who use taxis, I have been able to keep working,” adding, “I decided to donate to mark the 10th anniversary of obtaining my private taxi license this year.”

Kim Yong-deok, Director of the city's Safety and Transportation Bureau, said, “I am grateful for this practice of warm neighborly love even in the difficult situation caused by COVID-19,” and added, “We will make sure to deliver these precious funds to those who truly need them.”

Kim Kyung-ho, a member of the Suwon City Private Taxi Association, has been steadily practicing neighborly love by participating in various volunteer activities, such as flood recovery volunteer work and helping neighbors including seniors living alone and the underprivileged.
