Mayor Yeom Tae-young and Suwon City Officials Pledge to Practice 'Active Administration'
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Public officials in Suwon City have pledged to practice active administration that citizens can clearly experience.
Suwon City held an 'Active Administration Practice Pledge Event' on the 25th at the city hall main conference room during a 'March Expanded Executive Meeting' conducted in both in-person and non-face-to-face formats.
The event proceeded with public officials holding hand signs inscribed with slogans such as 'Active Administration Together' and 'Innovation Growth and Regulatory Reform,' pledging to lead the way in active administration and regulatory reform. Officials participated online by watching video conferences in their offices.
'Active administration' refers to 'the act of civil servants proactively handling administrative tasks based on creativity and expertise for the sake of the public interest, such as improving unreasonable regulations.'
The city ranked first among basic local governments in the '2020 Local Government Active Administration Comprehensive Evaluation' overseen by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and was selected as an 'excellent organization.' In particular, it received high scores in the 'leadership interest' category.
Accordingly, the city plans to establish and implement the '2021 Active Administration Implementation Plan' with the vision of 'substantial change in the civil service and clear citizen experience' this year.
The '2021 Active Administration Implementation Plan' comprises 19 tasks across 4 areas—▲strengthening active administration promotion systems and capabilities ▲active administration civil servants ▲strengthening protection and support for active administration civil servants ▲eliminating passive administration—and 5 'priority promotion tasks.'
Mayor Yeom Tae-young stated, "Based on the 'active administration practice system' that laid the groundwork last year, I will eliminate passive administration and actively support all staff to practice active administration," and added, "I will take the lead in practicing active administration that citizens can clearly experience."
