[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City announced on the 8th that it is recruiting multicultural organizations to participate in the 'Multicultural Family Club Activity Support Project.'

The Multicultural Family Club Activity Support Project provides support to clubs composed of 10 or more multicultural family members and foreign residents.

Club activity areas include ▲childcare education support ▲pregnant women and childcare assistance ▲marriage immigrant education support ▲multicultural awareness activities ▲sports activities, performance preparation, musical instrument playing, and cultural experiences ▲volunteer activities ▲meetings for spouses of marriage immigrants, and more.

Multicultural-related civic organizations (non-profit corporations and organizations) such as foreign resident centers can apply. A maximum of 1.5 million won will be provided per club. Club activities can continue through December. This year, the city plans to support both in-person and non-in-person activities.

Applicants must download the application form from the 'Notices/Proclamations/Legislative Notices' board on the City website (https://www.suwon.go.kr), fill it out, and submit it in person to the Suwon City Multicultural Policy Division (3rd Floor, Nitro Building, 24 Gyeongsu-daero 446beon-gil, Paldal-gu). The announcement will run through the 22nd of this month, and applications will be accepted from the 23rd to the 25th.

Target organizations will be selected based on internal criteria (highest score ranking) considering ▲organizational eligibility ▲appropriateness of the project ▲previous year's project evaluation results, and other factors.

Last year, seven clubs, including the 'Migrant Women Environmental Guardians,' were active. The 'Migrant Women Environmental Guardians' is a group of 15 Chinese immigrants who had recently arrived in Korea and were unfamiliar with waste separation. The club received waste disposal training and participated in recycling reuse experiences to learn proper waste separation methods. The group also conducted environmental cleanup volunteer activities and received positive evaluations.

Kim Mi-sook, head of the Suwon City Multicultural Policy Division, said, "We will actively support self-help clubs of multicultural families and foreign residents so that immigrants can settle into Korean society," and added, "We hope that multicultural family club activities will serve as an opportunity for immigrants to participate in social activities."
