[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] 'Suwon E-Taxi,' a taxi app with no call fees or brokerage commissions and accumulated points service, has been selected as the top excellence in proactive administration for Suwon City in the first half of the year.

The city announced on the 31st that it has selected five cases, including 'Suwon E-Taxi: A Taxi App with No Call Fees or Brokerage Commissions and Accumulated Points Service,' as 'Outstanding Cases of Proactive Administration for the First Half of 2021' through expert and civil servant review and online voting participated in by 1,385 citizens.

The selected outstanding cases are ▲Achieving the highest budget disbursement rate among metropolitan areas by actively discovering and supporting households in crisis due to COVID-19 (Excellence) ▲Streets where red lights go out... returning to Suwon citizens after 60 years! (Commendation) ▲Overcoming COVID-19 through contactless simplification and creating corporate income! (Commendable Effort) ▲Korea's first! Presenting a standard model of residential waste reduction system led by Suwon as an environmental city through garbage reduction policies (Commendable Effort), and others.

'Suwon E-Taxi,' launched by the city on April 15, is a Suwon-exclusive taxi call app with no call fees or brokerage commissions, providing auto-payment and mileage services.

'Suwon E-Taxi' is a 'public-private cooperation platform' developed with the taxi industry taking the lead and Suwon City providing support. It is strengthening the competitiveness of non-affiliated taxis by existing mobile taxi call companies and revitalizing the taxi industry.

As of May 19, 76% of 1,715 general (corporate) taxi enrollment targets and 84.2% of 2,923 individual taxi enrollment targets have joined 'Suwon E-Taxi.' Also, as of May 24, 22,585 passengers have registered, with an average of approximately 2,500 calls per day.

'Achieving the highest budget disbursement rate among metropolitan areas by actively discovering and supporting households in crisis due to COVID-19' resulted from Suwon City proposing system improvements to central government ministries including ▲elimination of income reduction rates ▲application of metropolitan city standards for cities with populations of 1 million or more ▲support through deliberation of households exceeding standards ▲relaxation of duplicate restrictions ▲relaxation of required documents, leading to changes in guidelines from the Central Disaster Management Headquarters.

'Streets where red lights go out... returning to Suwon citizens after 60 years!' involves promoting the opening of a fire access road through the center of the sex trade concentration area near Suwon Station, demolishing sex trade businesses, and commencing road construction work. The project is proceeding smoothly with a target completion date of December this year.

'Overcoming COVID-19 through contactless simplification and creating corporate income!' involves supporting export companies facing difficulties due to COVID-19 by ▲simplifying export procedures into a one-stop process (5 steps→1 step) ▲producing non-face-to-face TV promotional videos and transmitting to 106 countries to support company promotion ▲supporting remote negotiations after sending products to foreign buyers.

'Korea's first! Presenting a standard model of residential waste reduction system led by Suwon as an environmental city through garbage reduction policies' involves conducting sampling inspections on residential waste brought into resource recovery facilities and imposing 'residential waste inflow warning' penalties on neighborhoods that discharge waste below the inflow standards, implementing strong residential waste reduction policies.

Following the implementation of residential waste reduction policies, incinerator waste has decreased while recyclable waste has increased, achieving positive results.

The city will award prize money to departments selected as 'Outstanding Cases of Proactive Administration.' Civil servants recognized as proactive administration excellence recipients will receive incentives including the highest grade performance bonus, performance points, and commendation leave.
