Yongin City Uncovers Land Omitted from Free Transfer... Completes Ownership Transfer
[Suwon Ilbo = Reporter Park No-hun] Yongin City has recovered ownership of land that had been received from the state through a free grant but whose ownership transfer had been omitted for 20 years, and has been refunded 3.2 billion won in land purchase costs.
The city announced on the 6th that on the 21st of last month it received the transfer of ownership from the Korea Asset Management Corporation of one parcel of 3,584㎡ at 20-8 Gugal-dong, Giheung-gu, which had been owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The Korea Asset Management Corporation is a public institution that manages state-owned property owned by government ministries such as the Ministry of Economy and Finance under delegation.
This land was state-owned when the Gugal Respia was built back in 2003, but it was a site that the Ministry of Economy and Finance had decided to transfer to the city free of charge.
In 2021, while pursuing the Gugal Respia improvement project, the city proceeded with the project without recognizing that the Ministry of Economy and Finance had at the time agreed to grant part of the project site free of charge, and paid 3.2 billion won in land purchase costs.
This fact came to light when the city's Property Management Division was searching for related documents in connection with the Gugal Respia improvement project.
Accordingly, from January of this year, the city located and presented the past free-transfer documents to the Korea Asset Management Corporation and persistently requested a reexamination, achieving the outcome of having the land ownership transferred along with the 3.2 billion won in land purchase costs paid last year.
Earlier, in February, the Property Management Division's City-Owned Property Discovery Team also received an additional donation of 10 parcels of remaining land adjacent to land whose free transfer had been omitted after the installation of an urban planning road, securing land ownership worth about 3.3 billion won and contributing to the expansion of finances.
A city official said, “We will actively uncover city-owned property and strive to help expand the city's finances.”
