Kim Seung-won Nominated as Justice Minister Candidate

Kim Seung-won (57), a Democratic Party lawmaker representing Suwon Region A, has been nominated as the candidate for Justice Minister. On the 30th, President Lee Jae-myung announced Kim as the successor candidate to former Justice Minister Jung Sung-ho, along with announcing ministerial candidates for six departments and personnel appointments to the Presidential Office.

The candidate was born in Suwon in 1969 and graduated from Suseong High School and Seoul National University's Department of Constitutional Law. He served as a judge at the Suwon District Court as the 28th Judicial Research and Training Institute class member, and worked as an administrative official at the Presidential Secretariat's Political Affairs Office before serving as a member of the National Assembly for the 21st and 22nd terms. He currently serves as secretary of the National Assembly's Legislative and Judicial Committee. Upon passing a confirmation hearing, he will be appointed as minister.

The cabinet reshuffle list announced on the same day includes candidates for the Ministry of Strategy and Finance Lee Hyung-il, the Ministry of National Defense Kang Shin-chul, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Yong Hye-in, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Hong Ji-seon, and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups Lee So-young.
