Gyeonggi Province will hold a public auction on the 14th to offer five retired racehorses that underwent systematic training at the Riding Horse Training Center, which is operated under commission by the Gyeonggi Province Horse Industry Association.

The auction will take place at 1:30 p.m. on that day at the Riding Horse Complex of the Gyeonggi Province Livestock Promotion Center. The horses for sale are a total of five: Jeongsanghaedotdid, Elpidia, Stunning Point, World Tayo, and Cowboy Tango.

Prior to the auction, a pre-demonstration will be held so that participants can directly verify the condition of the horses and their abilities as riding horses. The physical condition and gait of the horses will be examined, riding tests will be conducted, and horses capable of jumping obstacles will also be demonstrated.

The horses being offered for sale were retired from racing and then retrained as riding horses at the Riding Horse Training Center. They have been trained for use in beginner riding and outdoor riding, and some of the horses have been evaluated as having potential for use in jumping events.

The auction will proceed using a sealed bid method starting from a base price of 1.5 million won. Among participants who bid at or above the base price, the person offering the highest amount will win the bid, and the successful bidder will complete the purchase contract on the day of the auction.

Lee Yang-su, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Livestock Promotion Center, said, "This is a project to enable retired racehorses to resume their activities as riding horses through systematic training and to supply horses with high utility to riding facilities in the province." He added, "Going forward, we will continue to expand the use of retired racehorses and provide riding horse training and supply to create a safer riding environment."
