Gwangmyeong Opens 3rd Garden Culture Festival on Sept 19, Capturing Autumn Atmosphere of Anyang Stream

Gwangmyeong City (Mayor Park Seung-won) will host an autumn festival where visitors can experience the charm of gardens while following the waters and breezes of the Anyang Stream.

The city will hold the '2026 3rd Gwangmyeong Garden Culture Festival' from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 19 in the area spanning from Chanbich Plaza to the Hatnuri Bridge Lawn Plaza along the Anyang Stream.

Themed 'A Flowing Garden, A Lingering Gwangmyeong,' this festival invites visitors to stroll slowly along the waters and breezes of the Anyang Stream, encountering gardens and art while participating in various programs.

First, diverse cultural and artistic performances and exhibitions will fill the festival atmosphere.

'Universal Art Company' will present a brass ensemble performance, while 'MonkeyNote-Kim Yu-kyeom' will showcase acoustic music performances, offering citizens who visit the Anyang Stream the leisure of enjoying music within a garden setting.

Visitors can also view 'Stories of Anyang Stream' sculptural artwork exhibitions previously displayed at the Gwangmyeong Cultural Center. Children can participate in ground drawing activities, using the plaza floor as canvas to freely create art and unleash their imagination.

Experience programs that allow visitors to cultivate gardens themselves and feel nature through all five senses are abundant. At the 'Art Imagination Garden' decorated with crafts by resident artists of the Gwangmyeong Youth Art Factory, visitors can explore the ecological value of the Anyang Stream and participate in 'Soundscape Experience,' where they can feel the sounds of nature and plants. Programs expressing the movements of rare flora and fauna of the Anyang Stream through dance and eco-friendly five-senses forest experience activities—over 10 diverse garden culture experience programs—are also available.

At the 'Mobile Companion Plant Clinic' operated by the National Garden Culture Institute, visitors can receive free consultation for companion plants or experience making companion plants.

Additionally, promotional and sales booths and food spaces (food trucks) will operate. Visitors can leisurely stroll through gardens along the Anyang Stream, enjoy experiences, performances, and food, and spend time at the festival at their own pace.

Mayor Park Seung-won of Gwangmyeong City stated, "I hope citizens who visit this festival will walk through gardens, feel nature, and enjoy culture and art, fully experiencing the joy and charm that gardens offer," and added, "Moving forward, I will work to establish gardens as a space that infuses citizens' daily lives with new vitality and allow garden culture to naturally permeate throughout the city."
