Suwon Declares 'Suwon-Style Mental Health AI Transformation'

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) has declared a 'Suwon-Style Mental Health AI Transformation.'

On the 15th, Suwon City held the '30th Anniversary Ceremony of Suwon City Mental Health Projects' at Jangan-gu Citizens Hall Hanuri Art Hall, the outdoor plaza, and Nosong Gallery, presenting the 'Seven Pledges for Suwon-Style Mental Health AI Transformation.'

The seven pledges are: △AI Lifelong Mind Care for happiness promotion; △AI Kids Mind Talk for children and adolescents; △AI Customized Recovery Mate for adults; △AI Senior Mental Care for the elderly; △AI Life Connection Link for suicide prevention; △AI Recovery Platform for addiction management; and △AI Recharge, Tomorrow for mental rehabilitation.

The plan is to utilize artificial intelligence technology in mental health by life stage, suicide prevention, addiction management, and mental rehabilitation to help citizens access mental health services more easily and conveniently.

At the ceremony, the city reviewed the 30-year achievements of Suwon's mental health projects that began in 1996 and shared the direction of future mental health services with citizens based on accumulated experience and expertise. Mental health contributors were also recognized.

A public lecture titled 'Humanities Enrichment Needed in the AI Era' with poet Na Tae-joo and psychiatrist Lee Young-moon, as well as an academic symposium on the seven pledges, were held.

At the outdoor plaza, mental health experience programs and a small concert were operated, and an exhibition documenting 30 years of Suwon's mental health projects was held at Nosong Gallery.

Since opening the Suwon Mental Health Center on March 18, 1996, as the first in Gyeonggi Province, Suwon City has established life-stage-specific mental health welfare centers for children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, as well as specialized institutions in fields such as suicide prevention and addiction management.

In 2016, the city declared itself the 'Mental Health Capital' and expanded mental health services spanning prevention and early detection through treatment and recovery.

Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon said, "Suwon has established the local government standard for mental health projects over the past 30 years," adding "by combining accumulated experience and AI technology, we will ensure that mental health services reach citizens in need more easily and conveniently."
