Osan City Launches Senior Employment Project in Full Swing
On the 6th, Osan City held a 2012 Senior Employment Project launching ceremony at Osan Wedding's Hall with approximately 200 participants including Mayor Gwak Sang-wook of Osan City and those involved in the employment project, organized by the Osan City Volunteer Center (Director Kim Ok-ju), the implementing agency, and its Silver Human Resources Bank.
The launching ceremony proceeded with participant registration and uniform distribution, followed by remarks from the implementing agency director, congratulatory remarks, an oath reading by working seniors, job project guidelines training, asset management, suicide prevention, and general orientation education.
Mayor Gwak Sang-wook of Osan City, who attended the event, said in his remarks, "Actively participating in social activities such as senior employment projects is a shortcut to living a healthy and happy life in old age," and pledged, "In addition to the senior employment project, the city will make greater efforts to expand opportunities for seniors' social participation, including community center activation programs."
Meanwhile, the city will invest a total project budget of 735 million won in 17 senior employment projects this year, providing employment for 437 seniors for seven months from March to September, with participating seniors receiving a monthly wage of 200,000 won.
The implementing agencies are three organizations: the Osan City Volunteer Center (Silver Human Resources Bank), the Korea Senior Citizens Association Osan City Branch, and the Osan Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, with four dedicated staff members responsible for administrative tasks including wage payment and industrial accident insurance enrollment for participating seniors.
