Osan City Welcomes Working-Level Delegation from Sister City Quang Nam Province, Vietnam

Exchanges between Osan City and Quang Nam Province in Vietnam (Provincial People's Committee Chairman Le Phuoc Thanh) are accelerating.

On the 19th, the city held a meeting at city hall with roughly 10 officials from both municipalities, including Mayor Kwak Sang-wook, to discuss various forms of exchange including mutual visits and cooperation in culture and arts, education, agriculture and livestock, and the economy.

Since 2002, Osan City has maintained various forms of exchange with Quang Nam Province, including mutual visits and investment consultations, and established a sister city relationship with the province on March 10, 2004.

Known as the third major city in central Vietnam, Quang Nam Province is home to Chu Lai, Vietnam's first development economic zone, Chu Lai Airport, and the ancient city of Hoi An, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, positioning it as a city with potential as an economic special zone and tourism destination.

At the meeting, Mayor Kwak stated, "Both municipalities will actively support friendly exchanges across diverse sectors including education, culture and arts, and the economy." He added, "Using this visit by the Quang Nam Province delegation as a starting point, we will expand exchanges with many international cities to promote regional economic development and strengthen our status as an open, multicultural city."

Following the exchange consultations, the Vietnamese delegation toured local facilities including traditional markets, Eco-reum, wastewater treatment plants, Osan Stream, and the Gasan Industrial Complex.

The three-member delegation, led by Director General Nguyen Hoang Minh (Department of Foreign Affairs), who entered the country on the 18th, will stay through the 22nd and plans to conduct industrial facility tours and extensive exchange activities across various sectors.
