Maetan 1-dong Hosts Star Constellation Tour for Summer Break

The Maetan 1-dong Residents' Autonomous Committee (Chairman Kim Bu-soon) in Youngtong-gu will embark on a star constellation tour on August 7 to spark children's interest in astronomy during summer break and reinvigorate their awareness of the environment by observing constellations on a midsummer night.

The constellation tour will depart from the Maetan 1-dong Community Center at 7 p.m. on August 7 and visit the Dongtan Children's Planetarium located in Jigot-dong, Osan City. Participants will observe constellations visible in August such as Lyra, Cygnus, Vega, and Altair, attend a lecture on the solar system covering the characteristics of the sun and the composition of the solar system, and practice with rotating constellation wheels and screen constellation travel simulations.

Recruitment targets third-grade elementary school students through middle school students, with applications accepted on a first-come, first-served basis among community center students and residents of Maetan 1-dong. There is no cost to participants, and an observation journal can be submitted within seven days of the experience.
