Suwon City Recruiting Areas for 'Car Free Day' Operation
The City of Suwon (Mayor Yeom Tae-young) is recruiting areas to operate 'Car Free Day' to reduce automobile use and promote eco-friendly transportation culture such as walking and cycling.
'Car Free Day' will operate from July to November, and residents can select areas where car-free culture spreads easily, plan various programs to enjoy with citizens and pedestrian-oriented street cultural events, and participate in the recruitment.
Application qualifications include organizations with 15 or more members in Suwon, and individual residents can form a resident consultative body (15 or more members), appoint a representative, and submit an application.
The application period runs from the 25th to 27th of this month, with applications accepted at each district's Community Service Center. In July, the Project Evaluation Committee will conduct document screening and on-site inspection to select four target areas.
The city will provide approximately 5 million won in event operation expenses to areas selected through the review during the project period. Additionally, for areas that consistently operate Car Free Day once a month, the city plans to provide budgets for eco-friendly transportation infrastructure construction annually based on residents' opinions.
