Gwangmyeong Ori Seowon Holds 'Moonlit Courtyard' Event for Chuseok Traditional Culture Celebration

Ori Seowon (Director Yoon Young-sik) under the Gwangmyeong Cultural Center announced on the 27th that it successfully concluded the "2026 Chuseok, Ori Seowon Moonlit Courtyard" event held on the 24th.

The event began with pre-program activities including learning more about Yi Won-ik, the Great Minister of Ori, and making a Gwanggan Hall, followed by a samulnori performance by the Gwangmyeong Municipal Traditional Arts Group. This was followed by a family sports day for Hangawi and a performance by the Gwangmyeong Cultural Center's club "Hangang-su."

Additionally, traditional culture events such as courtyard plays, mask dances, Korean clothing fashion showcase, rope-twisting competitions, and ganggang sullae were held, along with making wishes under the Chuseok moonlight, traditional games, songpyeon and traditional dasik-making, making natural mother-of-pearl keychains, and traditional costume experiences.

Director Yoon Young-sik said, "It was a meaningful gathering where citizens enjoyed traditional culture with their families and felt the essence of Chuseok," adding, "Going forward, we will continue to prepare diverse traditional culture programs that showcase the distinctive features of Ori Seowon."

Mayor Park Seung-won of Gwangmyeong stated, "Preserving and passing on the region's history and traditions is an important process in enhancing Gwangmyeong's cultural value," and added, "We will promote various cultural projects so that citizens can enjoy culture in their daily lives."
