Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il Attends Youngdeok 1-dong Community Day

Yongin Special City Mayor Lee Sang-il attended Youngdeok 1-dong Community Day held at Youngdeok Plaza of Youth on the 1st, offering congratulatory remarks to residents and having time to communicate with them.

Mayor Lee said, "I congratulate and thank all of you for gathering on this beautiful day after the hot summer to promote the development of Youngdeok 1-dong and strengthen unity among residents."

He continued, "Since the Girheung National Sports Center and Heungdeok Youth Culture Center opened last year, facilities for citizens have been established in Youngdeok 1-dong, so I hope you will make good use of them. After hearing concerns from students about difficulty in conducting survival swimming at Girheung National Sports Center, I immediately discussed the matter with Yongin Urban Corporation and had improvements made."

Mayor Lee stated, "We have successfully preserved Yongin's semiconductor industrial complex, and as a mega-scale semiconductor project is progressing well, if semiconductor-related tax revenue increases, we will be able to open the subway in 2029 as planned without issuing municipal bonds or other borrowing. I will work hard to ensure the project proceeds smoothly and the subway opens on schedule."

The event, which opened with a morning walking race and pre-ceremony performances including nanta percussion, was attended by approximately 300 residents of Youngdeok 1-dong.

At the opening ceremony that followed, 11 people, including Kim Min-seop, captain of Youngdeok 30-tong, received commendations for their contributions to the development of Youngdeok 1-dong. Various booths and games operated, and residents enjoyed performances throughout the day.
