93% of Gwangmyeong Citizens Show Positive Response to 'Anyang Stream National Garden' Project

Gwangmyeong City (Mayor Park Seung-won) is pursuing the Anyang Stream Local Garden Project in cooperation with Anyang, Gunpo, and Uiwang cities.

Furthermore, Gwangmyeong City has set the ultimate goal of eight local governments, including Geumcheon, Guro, Yangcheon, and Yeongdeungpo districts, connecting Anyang Stream as a single garden and developing it into a national garden.

The city announced on the 8th that based on the results of the 'Anyang Stream Local Garden Awareness and Satisfaction Survey' conducted over 11 days from September 18 to 28, approximately 93% (2,376 out of 2,552 respondents) responded 'positively' to Anyang Stream Local Garden's future development into a national garden.

In particular, as 93% of respondents expressed positive sentiment regarding the national garden development of Anyang Stream Local Garden, the Anyang Stream Local Garden Project has gained momentum.

When the Anyang Stream Local Garden is completed, 83% of respondents indicated that usage frequency will increase compared to the current level. This suggests that the local garden project is expected to have a positive impact on activating use of Anyang Stream and expanding citizens' daily utilization.

The most anticipated effects of local garden development were ▲expansion of rest and leisure space for citizens (39%) and ▲provision of beautiful scenery and year-round attractions (38%).

Regarding what form citizens desire the Anyang Stream Local Garden to take, results showed ▲rest-oriented garden (32%) ▲lifestyle garden for enjoying daily activities such as walking and cycling (22%) ▲nature observation garden (22%) in that order.

The anticipated effects should Anyang Stream Local Garden develop into a national garden included ▲expansion of rest and leisure space for citizens and improvement of quality of life (27%) ▲increase in visitors and activation of commerce (24%) ▲improvement of ecological value (24%), which were evenly cited.

Priority improvements to be made when operating the local garden for national garden development were ▲expansion of convenience facilities such as parking lots and restrooms (27%) ▲improvement of public transportation and pedestrian accessibility (25%) ▲creation of distinctive gardens by season and theme (24%) in that order.

Mayor Park Seung-won of Gwangmyeong City stated, "We will faithfully reflect citizens' opinions and transform Anyang Stream into a sanctuary of rest and leisure for our residents," adding "Furthermore, we will steadily prepare to develop it into a representative garden of the Republic of Korea and establish it as a garden destination that attracts visitors from across the nation."
