Cho Kyung-tae Receives Taiwan Diplomatic Friendship Medal... "First Sitting Member of Parliament"

Rep. Cho Kyung-tae of the People Power Party has received a Diplomatic Friendship Medal from the Taiwan government. This is the first time a sitting member of parliament has received this honor.
On the 9th, Rep. Cho posted on his Facebook, "I have been honored to receive the meaningful Diplomatic Friendship Medal from the Taiwan government," adding "As a sitting member of parliament, this is a first, making the moment even more special and an honor." He continued, "Korea and Taiwan share the values of freedom and democracy, and are cooperating in various fields including economics, society, culture, and people-to-people exchanges."
Rep. Cho has served as chair of the Korea-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Association since 2013, working to promote communication between the parliaments of both countries. He also conveyed his commitment to continuing to serve as a bridge for cooperation between the two nations.
The Diplomatic Friendship Medal is awarded by the Taiwan government to individuals who have contributed to promoting friendship between the two nations. Following the severance of diplomatic relations in 1992, parliamentary-level exchanges have continued, with the medal presented to an active member of parliament being viewed as a symbolic moment in Korea-Taiwan parliamentary diplomacy.
