Gyeonggi Province Office of Education Holds Online Briefing Session on High School Student Placement for Equalized Zones

The Gyeonggi Province Office of Education (Superintendent An Min-seok) will hold a briefing session on the '2027 Academic Year Gyeonggi Province High School Equalized Zone Student Placement Plan' to help middle school third-year students, parents, and high school admissions administrators understand the process.

The briefing session will be conducted non-face-to-face using a YouTube channel (Gyeonggi High School Admissions TV). The target audience includes students, parents, middle school teachers, and education support office staff members belonging to high school equalized zone school districts in the province: ▲Suwon ▲Seongnam ▲Anyang area (Anyang·Gwacheon, Gunpo·Uiwang) ▲Bucheon ▲Goyang ▲Gwangmyeong ▲Ansan ▲Uijeongbu ▲Yongin. Additionally, students and parents from nearby non-equalized zones wishing to apply to equalized zone schools can obtain practical information about applications by attending the briefing session.

From the 30th of this month through October 16th, sessions will be held for middle school teachers and education support office staff members. Subsequently, from October 19th through November 27th, sessions will be conducted for students and parents. In addition, the Provincial Office of Education will conduct pre- and post-viewing surveys before and after the online briefing session to assess the level of understanding among students, parents, and teachers regarding the high school placement plan and to measure policy credibility.

The briefing session will provide comprehensive guidance on student placement plans across all school districts in Gyeonggi's equalized zones, focusing on ▲high school admissions schedule ▲placement methods ▲placement procedures. By school district, detailed guidance will be provided on ▲school information ▲placement stages ▲school preference ranking completion and similar matters.

General high schools in Gyeonggi's equalized zones allocate students through a "first apply-then lottery" method. Of these, Suwon, Seongnam, Anyang area, Goyang, Ansan, and Yongin school districts implement Stage 1 'In-district placement' and Stage 2 'Zone-based placement,' while Bucheon, Gwangmyeong, and Uijeongbu school districts implement only Stage 1 'In-district placement.'

Since placement results can vary according to high school preferences listed on the application, students must accurately understand the placement methods and procedures and carefully complete their school preference rankings.

The Provincial Office of Education has produced an instructor handbook containing detailed information on student placement plans and a student and parent information guide (leaflet) and distributed them to middle schools in September.
