Time Travel in Hanbok at Haenggung Plaza This Autumn—How Does It Sound?
Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-joon) will operate the traditional costume experience program 'Suwon Hwaseong Hanbok Masil' at Haenggung Plaza from October 4 to 11 during the 63rd Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival.
Suwon Hwaseong Hanbok Masil is a program that allows visitors to experience the charm of Suwon Hwaseong while dressed in hanbok and participating in the festival.
Hanbok rental is available at the Hanbok Masil experience booth within Haenggung Plaza. Visitors can rent on-site, with rental fees based on a 2-hour period at 25,000 won per person. Once visitors select their hanbok, staff members assist with changing clothes and putting on accessories.
For visitors who rent hanbok at the Hanbok Masil experience booth, night performance tickets for the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis from October 7 to 11 when the night performance is held (50 tickets per day). This initiative connects visitors who experience traditional costumes with festival performances.
Citizens wearing hanbok can enter Hwaseong Haenggung Palace for free, and visitors also receive benefits including free viewing of 'Haenggung Night Stories' on the day of time travel, and free admission to the Suwon Hwaseong media art experience (29 seats for the first showing).
Haenggung Night Stories will be operated daily from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. across five pavilions within Hwaseong Haenggung Palace from October 3 to 11. Suwon Hwaseong media art will run daily from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. from September 19 to October 6. Visitors can feel the vibrancy of the festival during the day while wearing hanbok and enjoy evening programs in the night.
A Suwon City official stated, "Hanbok will harmonize with the historical space of Suwon Hwaseong and become another way to enjoy the festival. Visitors can select their favorite hanbok, walk around the festival venue, and participate in the event in a different light from their daily lives."
