Mayor Jung Duk-young of Yangju Visits Okjeong Central Shopping Complex Following Citizens' Text Message

Yangju City is pursuing field-centered civic communication by identifying citizen inconveniences received through the "Mayor's Direct Text Complaint Service" and finding solutions.

Mayor Jung Duk-young of Yangju visited the Okjeong Central Shopping Complex intersection area and the internal shopping complex road on the 28th with related departments and officials from Yangju Police Station to examine traffic flow and vehicle passage conditions and discuss measures to improve traffic congestion.

The Okjeong Central Shopping Complex intersection area currently faces worsening traffic congestion as vehicle passage areas have been reduced due to construction work on the Okjeong-Pocheon Line 201 Station, compounded by illegal parking of academy vehicles and passenger pick-up/drop-off vehicles.

In particular, some vehicles are occupying lanes and obstructing traffic flow, with congestion extending to areas around intersections, causing continued inconvenience to citizens. The internal road of the shopping complex is also experiencing reduced road function as waiting vehicles trying to enter shops on both sides occupy part of the traffic lane, leading to persistent citizen requests for improvement.

Mayor Jung instructed relevant departments that since the Okjeong Central Shopping Complex intersection area is already designated as a no-parking zone, to "conduct enforcement and on-site guidance activities using fixed and mobile CCTV to minimize citizen traffic inconvenience caused by illegal parking."

Additionally, Yangju City is undertaking structural improvements to resolve chronic traffic congestion on the internal road of Okjeong Central Shopping Complex. The city plans to expand the existing 2-lane internal shopping complex road to 3 lanes starting in October.

Mayor Jung Duk-young of Yangju stated, "The mayor's direct text complaint service is an important communication channel for hearing citizens' inconveniences," and added, "Since Okjeong Central Shopping Complex is an area with high foot traffic, we will continue to develop practical traffic improvement measures that citizens can experience firsthand."
