Osan Mayor Cho Yong-ho Discusses Youth Employment Support and Traffic Improvements with Young People
On the 29th, Osan City Mayor Cho Yong-ho operated a "Mobile Mayor's Office" at the Youth Job Cafe Iruljab in Osan City with local youth, listening to their practical difficulties and policy proposals regarding employment, transportation, and youth space utilization.
Attendees recommended expanding support for job preparation, such as interview allowances, and establishing a single window where local companies' recruitment information can be accessed. Opinions were also raised that it is necessary to widen the range of job choices and provide support tailored to the circumstances of youth who are isolated or facing difficulties in job searching.
Regarding youth spaces, they requested improvements in accessibility and operating hours, as well as an expansion of spaces like Iruljab and exchange programs. Suggestions were also made to strengthen promotion so that more youth can utilize existing policies and programs.
They also recommended expanding public transportation during early morning and late evening hours for commuting and school attendance, shortening bus intervals, and improving routes. In addition, they presented opinions on resolving pedestrian inconvenience caused by electric kickboards and illegal parking, expanding street lighting, and activating the Culture Street.
Mayor Cho exchanged views with the youth regarding their suggestions. The city plans to review the feasibility of the proposals and necessary procedures through consultations with relevant departments and establish a processing direction.
Osan City previously visited eight districts to listen to residents' quality-of-life concerns and local issues. Subsequently, the city has expanded meetings to include daycare center parents, youth, and young adults, specifically listening to needed support according to citizens' living conditions.
Osan City Mayor Cho Yong-ho said, "Directly hearing what youth feel when utilizing policies and the difficulties they face in their daily lives is the starting point for identifying necessary support. We will review the opinions raised today and make efforts to help young people work, live, and prepare for their future in Osan."
