Hwaseong Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun Requests 335.4 Billion Won in Government Funds at Democratic Party Budget Policy Meeting

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun) attended a budget policy meeting of the Democratic Party of Korea for basic-level municipal heads of Gyeonggi Province held on the 30th at Seminar Room 2 of the National Assembly Members' Building. The city requested government fund support for major projects in Hwaseong Special City for fiscal year 2027 and proposed smooth implementation of the national road construction project, which has faced difficulties in its long-term promotion.

The meeting was attended by National Assembly members including Lee Gwang-jae, Chair of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts (Hanam-gap), and Yeom Tae-young, Chair of the Good Local Government Committee (Suwon-mu), as well as Seo Young-seok, Chair of the Gyeonggi Province Party (Bucheon-gap), and Kim Jun-hyeok, Vice Chair of the Gyeonggi Province Party (Suwon-jeong).

At the meeting, Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun requested government fund support totaling 335.4 billion won across 11 projects, including: ▲Galcheon-Gasu National Road Construction Project (3 billion won) ▲Ujeong-Hyangnam National Road Construction Project (1 billion won) ▲Indeokwon-Dongtan Double-Track Railroad Project (202.8 billion won) ▲Sinansan Line Double-Track Railroad Construction Project (30 billion won) ▲Incheon-Originated KTX Direct Connection Project (23.3 billion won) ▲GTX-A (Samsung-Dongtan) Construction Project (14 billion won), and others.

Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun stated, "With continued population growth and urban expansion, the demand for expanding major infrastructure such as metropolitan transportation networks is rapidly increasing." He emphasized, "Government fund support for major projects and seamless implementation are necessary for citizen safety and balanced regional development."

He continued, "To create Hwaseong, the economic and life center of the Republic of Korea where transportation, welfare, culture, and industry develop in a balanced manner, we request attention and support for reflecting major projects in government budget allocations."

Hwaseong Special City plans to closely cooperate with the central government and related organizations to ensure that major projects are reflected as much as possible in the fiscal year 2027 government budget.
