The Gyeonggi Province Office of Education (Superintendent An Min-seok) signed a business cooperation agreement with the Catholic Diocese of Suwon (Bishop Lee Yong-hoon) on the 2nd at the "2027 WYD Suwon Diocesan Conference D-300, Vision Declaration with and for Society" held at the Catholic Diocese of Suwon Office to ensure the successful hosting of the conference.
The cooperation agreement was pursued to establish a collaborative system to welcome students and youth from around the world, and to establish necessary matters and basic principles for the utilization of school facilities while prioritizing educational activities and student safety at schools.
The "2027 WYD (World Youth Day) Suwon Diocesan Conference (hereinafter referred to as the Conference)" is an international event in which students and youth from countries around the world stay in the Gyeonggi region and engage in exchanges. During the conference period, overseas participants are scheduled to use communal accommodation facilities within the region and participate in various exchange programs.
The main areas of cooperation include ▲utilization of school facilities necessary for conference operations such as communal accommodation for participants and restoration to original condition after use ▲information sharing and cooperation among relevant organizations for conference preparation and operation ▲support for the safety and convenience of participants.
The Provincial Office of Education will consult with the Educational Support Office and schools on facility utilization methods considering the circumstances of each school, and will provide necessary administrative support such as facility management to ensure participants can use facilities safely.
The Suwon Diocese will oversee comprehensive planning and operation of the conference, and will be responsible for participant recruitment and assignment, safety and hygiene management, operation of communal accommodation facilities, and restoration of school facilities to their original condition after use.
Superintendent An Min-seok stated, "The best way to learn about the world is to meet the world," and added, "We will lower the barriers of our schools so they can serve as a refuge for young people from around the world and actively cooperate in the utilization of school facilities to make this an exemplary case of the Gyeonggi Province Office of Education's wall-breaking policy."
