2026 Anseong Culture Plaza Festa Blends Local and National Crafts

The 2026 Anseong Culture Plaza Festa, held in conjunction with the Anseong-Matcum Namsadang Bawdeokyi Festival, is filling the grass plaza of Anseong-Matcum Land with diverse craft works and experience programs.
The Anseong Culture Plaza Festa, being held for the second consecutive year following last year as part of the Republic of Korea Cultural City Development Project, is a craft culture festival that links regional traditional culture with craft content from across the nation. It provides citizens and visitors with opportunities to experience culture, and offers local artisans opportunities to expand their markets.
The Anseong Culture Plaza Festa operates daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. A total of 55 teams participate, including 19 cultural artisans from Anseong City, 1 master craftsman, 20 cultural commerce groups, and 15 craftspeople gathered from across the nation, showcasing crafts in diverse fields such as ceramics, metalwork, textiles, and woodworking at experience and sales booths.
On the fourth day, the festival's third day, visitors can enjoy a variety of craft experience programs. Experience workshops include Master Craftsman Nam Sung-suk's "Making an Owl Door Charm," Master Craftsman Jang Seok-soon's "Making a Korean Paper Round Box," and Master Craftsman Lee Sang-rye's "Making Five-Color Sachet Lucky Pouches." Demonstrations by Kim Yi-rang, a master craftsman of straw-and-reed crafts from Siheung, and Choi Sang-sub, a master craftsman of ceramic crafts in Anseong, showcase the process of completing works through master hands. In the morning, "Making Norigae Keychains" with foreign supporter volunteers will be held at the central rest area to introduce Anseong's traditional crafts.

Every day during the festival at 3 p.m., the 'Live Sales Show' hosted by comedian Jung Kyung-mi takes place on the marketplace stage. It introduces Anseong's traditions and craft culture and highlights the distinctive qualities of cultural artisans' craft works.
Additionally, the 'Preference Diagnosis Booth' that recommends booths matching preferences with simple questions, the 'Gacha Shop' capsule toy vending machine that randomly provides craft works for a modest fee, and 'Cultural City Anseong X Kidzania' where children can create craft works themselves operate throughout the festival period.
Anseong City is pursuing a policy to establish a foundation for a virtuous cycle between culture and economy, and to concretize a vision of a cultural city that citizens can experience.
