The International Education Institute of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Director Kim Young-gwan) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 6th with the Kirishima City Board of Education in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan to strengthen educational exchange and international education cooperation.

The agreement, held at the Kirishima City Board of Education in Japan, proceeded with the attendance of related officials from both organizations, including Director Kim Young-gwan and Board Chair Ikeda Koichi.

Through the agreement, both organizations pledged mutual cooperation to ensure stable operation of school exchange programs, including promoting school-to-school international exchange matching to expand students' international experience and activate exchange between schools.

The main areas of cooperation include ▲establishing a cooperation framework for continuous international exchange between both organizations ▲promoting international exchange matching between schools in Gyeonggi Province and Kirishima region ▲providing information and operational support necessary for school-to-school international exchange programs ▲promoting sustainable, student-centered international exchange activities.

In particular, following international exchange matching, the organizations plan to support diverse exchange activities tailored to schools' circumstances, such as online class exchange, cultural exchange, and joint projects, so that schools can move beyond one-time visit-focused exchange and establish a sustainable, continuous international exchange system between schools.

"Through this agreement, we have established a cooperation foundation to stably promote international exchange between schools in Gyeonggi Province and the Kirishima region," said Kim Young-gwan, Director of the International Education Institute of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education. "Going forward, we will actively support school matching and exchange program operations between the two regions so that students can expand opportunities to understand each other's education and culture and communicate with the world," he added.
