Gyeonggi Province conducted safety inspections of 10 bungee jumping and zipline facilities and identified a total of 15 issues.

From September 7 to 17, the province conducted joint safety inspections on 4 bungee jumping sites and 6 zipline sites selected from among 7 bungee jumping facilities and 22 zipline facilities across 7 municipalities including Suwon, Yongin, Goyang, Ansan, Uiwang, Dongducheon, and Gapyeong, taking into comprehensive consideration facility scale and other factors.

The main issues identified in the inspection include tears in fall protection nets, fraying of safety ropes, fire hazards from electrical wire branching connections, damaged outlets, and insufficient documentation of employee safety training.

At Facility A, the departure point fall protection net was found to be torn, requiring replacement or repair. At Facility B, the province recommended installing additional fall protection nets on the right railing of the boarding area and at the entrance of the departure gate. At Facility C, fraying was found on the freefall device (quickflight) rope, protruding metal surfaces were present on the welds of stair railings, and documentation for equipment periodic inspections and employee safety training was not submitted.

At Facility D, safety inspection signs were found to be deteriorated and paint on the steel structure was peeling, indicating the need for sign maintenance and periodic paint management. At Facility E, wire connection conditions branching from the kiosk power supply and damage to lighting outlets were confirmed, requiring reconstruction and replacement. Safety equipment such as harnesses marked for disposal were recommended to be stored separately from equipment in use.

Of the total 15 issues identified, the province required corrective action for 6 items including fall protection net repairs and electrical equipment maintenance, and recommended improvements for 9 items including safety rope replacement and additional fall protection net installation.

Jung Yeon-seok, head of Gyeonggi Province's special safety inspection unit, said, "Since even minor damage to bungee jumping and zipline facilities and equipment can affect user safety, careful inspection and management are necessary," adding, "We will cooperate with municipalities and operators to manage the improvement of identified issues and will continue to promote inspections to prevent safety accidents."
