Uiwang City Ojeon-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee Holds General Assembly and Singing Contest
Uiwang City Ojeon-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee held the 'Ojeon-dong General Assembly' and 'Morak-morak Singing Contest' on the 22nd at Uiwang City Lifelong Learning Center to select community projects.
The general assembly is a venue for the realization of direct democracy where residents directly discuss and decide on major community issues, and is one of the core activities of the residents' autonomy committee. The assembly proceeded actively with the attendance of approximately 300 residents.
Ojeon-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee conducted the main event in the following order: reporting on the status of project implementation for 2026, announcing the residents' autonomy plan for 2027, and revealing the results of the resident vote. Afterwards, the 'Morak-morak Singing Contest,' which was promoted as a result of the previous general assembly, took place. On stage, 10 residents who advanced to the finals after preliminary rounds showcased their singing skills developed over time, bringing great joy to participants.
This resident vote was conducted both online and offline from August 10 to 20, with participation from approximately 500 residents, demonstrating high interest in Ojeon-dong's autonomous activities.
According to the voting results, the priority order for Ojeon-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee community projects for next year was determined as follows: △agricultural products direct transaction happiness market △astronomical observation project △special experiential learning for elementary school students △Morak-morak singing contest △Ojeon-dong SOS.
Yang Hong-geon, the chair of the residents' autonomy committee, said, "I sincerely thank all residents who showed interest and participated in the general assembly," and added, "I will do my best to ensure that the projects selected based on residents' precious opinions proceed without delay."
An Chi-kwon, vice mayor of Uiwang City, stated, "The community projects in Ojeon-dong are greatly contributing to residents' harmony and regional development, and the general assembly is a driving force in creating a better Ojeon-dong to live in," and said, "We will continue to provide generous support so that Ojeon-dong Residents' Autonomy Committee can engage in more active activities."
