Osan City Emerging as Community Sports Hub
A Comprehensive Sports Club is a community sports hub where members of diverse classes and age groups, various sports and programs, and professional instructors are comprehensively integrated, centered on sports facilities.
Osan City Sports and Community Sports Association formed a task force team in December of last year with city officials, local National Assembly member Ahn Min-seok's office, facility management corporation, and sports personnel, then applied through site visits to advanced regions and multiple meetings.
In this Comprehensive Sports Club recruitment, a total of 43 local government organizations nationwide applied, and 10 organizations including Osan City Sports and Community Sports Association were selected. Going forward, they will receive annual support of 300 million won for 3 years, totaling 900 million won. Therefore, Osan City has achieved a significant accomplishment in establishing infrastructure that can greatly contribute to expanding the foundation and revitalizing community sports.
Mayor Kwak Sang-wook of Osan City stated, "With the selection of this Comprehensive Sports Club, we have created an opportunity for Osan City to develop into a hub of community sports," and added, "We will systematically advance community sports in the future and develop the city into a healthy community for all citizens."
Lee Taek-seon, Overall Vice Chairman of Osan City Sports and Community Sports Association, stated, "We plan to establish a non-profit organization to faithfully operate the Comprehensive Sports Club, and through operating diverse sports programs and securing sports facilities and instructors, we will promote the development of community sports. In the medium to long term, we plan to nurture and develop it into an Osan-type social enterprise."
