Uiwang City Holds Citizen Participatory Budget Subcommittee Meeting
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Uiwang City (Mayor Kim Sang-don) held the "Second Meeting of the Citizen Participatory Budget Committee" at City Hall on the 19th to compile the 2020 Uiwang City citizen participatory budget.
At this meeting, a total of 76 citizen proposals submitted through the solicitation of citizen participatory budget proposals—including the operation of wheelchair-accessible table tennis tables within the municipal table tennis facility—were carefully reviewed by subcommittee.
Committee members from three subcommittees including the Culture Administration Subcommittee, Industry and Environment Subcommittee, and Urban Development Subcommittee specifically examined the validity, efficiency, and urgency of each proposed project.
The committee will decide whether to adopt projects as part of the citizen participatory budget by August after conducting site visits for each subcommittee project and consulting with relevant departments. Adopted motions will be included in next year's main budget after going through a full committee meeting of the citizen participation committee and a citizen participation council.
A city official stated, "Thanks to the passionate interest and participation of committee members, citizen interest and participation in the citizen participatory budget system is increasing," and added, "We will continue to do our best to ensure that proposed projects reflecting the voices of local residents can be included in the citizen participatory budget."
