[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon Mayor Yom Tae-young told city officials to "gather ideas that can expand the Japanese product boycott campaign to civil society."

At an expanded executive meeting held on the 24th at the Suwon City Hall conference room, Mayor Yom said, "Let's practice boycotting Japanese products in all departments, including dong administrative welfare centers, and make our city a model case for the entire nation," and requested, "Please propose effective ideas."

He continued, "After the Japanese government announced export restrictions on Korea, citizens have been carrying out a Japanese product boycott campaign," and encouraged, "Suwon, which served as a catalyst for spreading the March 1st Movement, should also practice the Japanese product boycott campaign in all departments. Also, most of the copiers and printers used by each department are Japanese-made. While it's difficult overnight, let's also consider replacing them with domestic products."

Meanwhile, the Association of Mayors, Governors and District Office Heads of Korea (Chairman Mayor Yom Tae-young) held a "press conference condemning Japan's economic retaliation measures" at the National Assembly Press Center on the 23rd and announced, "We will carry out a Japanese product boycott campaign with the people. We will also suspend official visits to Japan until Japan withdraws the export restrictions." On the same day, around 300 Suwon citizens held a "Suwon Citizens' Resolution Rally" in the city hall auditorium and pledged to participate in the Japanese product boycott campaign.
