Suwon City: "Let's Save Energy Together This Summer"
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City (Mayor Yeom Tae-young) is rolling out an energy conservation campaign to prepare for the surge in energy consumption during the summer months.
The city, Korea Energy Management Corporation, and the Suwon Green Leader Council are participating in the campaign, which is being held in commercial areas with high business density including Suwon Station, Paldalmun Gate, and Nae Hyesuk Street in Ingye-dong.
The campaign promotes summer electricity-saving practices such as using air conditioners and fans together, maintaining the appropriate indoor temperature of 26 degrees Celsius during summer, and operating businesses with doors closed while air conditioning.
Campaign participants distributed energy conservation promotional materials at Paldalmun Gate on the 31st and urged citizens to participate.
A city official said, "When operating with doors closed during peak summer, more than 60 percent energy can be saved compared to operating with doors open," and added, "We will continue the campaign to spread energy conservation culture in our daily lives."
