Gwonseon-gu Implements 'Second Half Social Security Benefit Verification Survey'
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jang Kyung-hee] Gwonseon-gu in Suwon (District Head Lee Taek-yong) is conducting a "2019 Second Half Regular Social Security Benefit Verification Survey" from the 1st through the end of this year to verify the appropriateness of social security benefits for recipients in accordance with the Social Security Benefit Act and the legal basis of individual projects.
The verification survey involves a comprehensive review of 80 types of public data from 25 institutions recently updated for recipients of 11 welfare projects including basic livelihood security (2,513 households, 4,604 people) to increase the efficiency of welfare finance and prevent fraudulent claims through appropriate management of recipient eligibility and benefits.
Hong Myung-suk, Director of the Social Welfare Division, stated, "For recipient households expected to face benefit termination or reduction as a result of the verification survey, we will provide prior notice and actively guide them on the survey's purpose, reasons for termination, and methods for clarification." She added, "We are committed to eliminating blind spots in welfare by linking available other welfare programs and private resources."
Meanwhile, through the first half social security benefit verification survey, Gwonseon-gu processed 22,774 cases, adjusting 662 cases of eligibility termination, 1,024 cases of benefit reduction, 530 cases of benefit increase, 1,621 cases of eligibility maintenance, and 18,937 cases of other changes.
