Suwon Sustainable City Foundation Launches 'Bazar Maesan'
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] The Suwon Sustainable City Foundation launched 'Bazar Maesan,' a global cultural exchange program, on the 23rd at Suwon Multicultural Food Land (B1 level of Yeokjeon Market) on Maesan-ro.
'Bazar (Market) Maesan,' one of the urban regeneration projects in Maesan-dong, is a program where participants enjoy foreign cuisine at restaurants run by immigrants and listen to cultural lectures delivered by female marriage migrant instructors from the respective countries. The instructors introduce the food culture and other aspects of their home countries and engage in conversations with participants.
On the 23rd, the inaugural program was held at 'Tashkent,' an Uzbek restaurant in the Multicultural Food Land, with the theme 'The Taste of Uzbekistan, the Center of the Silk Road.'
Bazar Maesan will continue with ▲Vietnam (28th, Vietnamese restaurant in Multicultural Food Land) ▲India·Nepal (30th, Suembu Indian restaurant in Maesan Market) ▲China (November 6th, Hualamido Chinese restaurant in Maesan Market) ▲Cambodia (November 8th, Cambodian restaurant in Multicultural Food Land) ▲Myanmar (November 11th, Myanmar restaurant in Multicultural Food Land). Each program runs for an hour and a half starting at 10:30 a.m.
Ahn Sang-wook, Chairman of the Suwon Sustainable City Foundation, said, "We will operate cultural exchange programs that allow indigenous residents and immigrants to understand each other, thereby establishing a multicultural network in Maesan-dong," adding, "We will lay the groundwork for implementing the multicultural project of the Maesan-dong urban regeneration deal."
