Osan City Conducts Fire Drill for Civic Fire Brigade
[Suwon Ilbo=Seo Dong-young] Osan City conducted a fire drill for its civic fire brigade on the 24th in conjunction with the Osan Fire Department, simulating a fire outbreak at the city hall building and parking lot.
About 30 civic fire brigade members from four teams—command, suppression, evacuation guidance, and rescue and emergency medical response teams—composed of city hall staff participated in the fire drill.
The drill, overseen by the City Accounting Division, was conducted based on a hypothetical scenario set at the situation room on the second floor of city hall, where an electrical fire starts due to a short circuit in the lighting equipment, followed by a power outage and fire with smoke generation that causes the elevator to stop.
In particular, the drill began with employee evacuation according to fire alarm announcements and initial firefighting activities by civic fire brigade members. Using fire extinguishers and indoor fire hydrants, they sprayed water in the same manner as in an actual situation. After the scenario ended, an evaluation of the drill was conducted.
