[Suwon Ilbo=Correspondent Seo Dong-young] Three community autonomy councils in Suwon were selected as excellent organizations at the "18th National Community Autonomy Exhibition Excellent Cases Contest" held at the Daejeon Convention Center on the 29th.
The Haenggung-dong and Songdeok-dong community autonomy councils received an excellent award and an encouragement award, respectively, in the 'Community Autonomy' category, while the Gwanggyo 1-dong community autonomy council received an excellent award in the 'Local Revitalization' category.
The 18th National Community Autonomy Exhibition Excellent Cases Contest, jointly hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Open Society Citizens' Coalition, evaluates activities of autonomous organizations nationwide to select excellent organizations.
The contest evaluates ▲Community Autonomy ▲Local Revitalization ▲Learning Community ▲Resident Organization Network ▲Systems and Policies—five categories—assessing 'Resident Participation,' 'Public-Private Collaboration,' 'Learning Contribution,' and 'Community Autonomy Sustainability.'
Haenggung-dong received high marks for introducing Suwon's first 'District Chief Resident Recommendation System,' a 'Citizen Bicycle Rental Station' operated directly by residents, and cultural arts festivals.
Songdeok-dong was highly evaluated for the 'Happiness Helper Welfare Project,' a fundraising initiative for vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots, and the 'Songdeok-dong Community Sharing Space' project, which created a community hub.
Gwanggyo 1-dong received favorable reviews for volunteer talent-sharing activities, 'Meeting You Now,' and the community network program 'Creating Value Together.'
A city official stated, "This is a result achieved through residents' active interest and willingness to participate in realizing community autonomy."
