[Suwon Ilbo = Reporter Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City held a condolence reception on the 7th for 200 Korean War veterans.

The commemorative ceremony, organized by the Pyeongtaek City Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association of the Republic of Korea (President Lee Gye-wan), was attended by approximately 200 people, including Mayor Jung Jang-seon, City Council Chair Kwon Young-hwa, Korean War veterans, and leaders of veteran welfare and national security organizations.

President Lee Gye-wan stated, "The blood and sweat we shed in battle were not in vain, and we must properly educate all citizens about the historical lessons of the Korean War we experienced to ensure that the tragedy of fratricidal conflict never recurs on this land," and added, "We express our gratitude to Pyeongtaek City, including Mayor Jung Jang-seon, who always supports the welfare of national merit holders."

Mayor Jung Jang-seon said, "We must deeply remember that freedom and peace are not obtained for free, and we will do our best to ensure that those who devoted themselves to their homeland receive proper respect commensurate with their sacrifice," and stated, "Though our efforts are modest, starting next year we will implement policies to honor and respect national merit holders who made sacrifices and patriotic contributions, such as providing consolation allowances for elderly Korean War veterans."
