[Suwon Ilbo=Correspondent Seo Dong-young] Suwon City and Suwon Saemaul Society have built a Saemaul Hall in a village in northern Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan, to serve as a hub for spreading the Saemaul Movement, opening its doors on the 8th (local time).
Suwon City and Suwon Saemaul Society announced that they held a completion ceremony for the 'Saemaul Hall' in Ak-Bashat Village, Kyrgyzstan, with approximately 100 attendees, including Suwon officials and village residents.
The Kyrgyzstan Saemaul Hall, built as part of Suwon City and Suwon Saemaul Society's 'Global Saemaul Cooperation Project,' invested approximately 50 million won in project costs, began construction in June, and was completed at the end of October.
The Saemaul Hall is a single-story building (interior area of 270㎡) equipped with an office, computer room, study room, kitchen, restroom, and auditorium.
The Saemaul Hall in Ak-Bashat Village is expected to serve as a space for community unity and village community formation, as well as a hub for spreading the Saemaul Movement throughout Kyrgyzstan.
Wang Chol-ho, head of Suwon City's Autonomous Administration Division, said, "We will continue to promote the spirit of Saemaul to various countries around the world, including Kyrgyzstan, and make known its value," and added, "I hope the Saemaul Hall will become a beloved space for residents of Ak-Bashat Village."
Meanwhile, the 'Global Saemaul Cooperation Project' carried out jointly by Suwon City and Suwon Saemaul Society is an initiative to promote successful cases and spirit of the Saemaul Movement to underdeveloped countries, fostering self-reliance and supporting poverty alleviation. Previously, they successfully completed environmental improvement projects at Phon Kham Elementary School in Phon Kham Village, Laos (2014-2016), and supported the construction of a Saemaul Hall, road paving, and pig-raising projects (2017-2018) in Bu Yat Village, Myanmar.
