[Suwon Ilbo=Seo Dong-young Reporter] Pyeongtaek City held an industry-academia-government cooperation agreement ceremony on the 8th at the External Cooperation Division of City Hall to foster outstanding local talent.

The ceremony was attended by Pyeongtaek Mayor Jeong Jang-seon, National Assembly Member Yu Ui-dong, Hyundai Steel Representative Director Ahn Dong-il, Pyeongtaek Machinery Industrial High School Principal Kim Gwang-hoe, Dongil Industrial High School Principal Jeong Ki-hak, and Anjung High School Principal Kim Jin-hyun, who signed the agreement.
Through this agreement, Hyundai Steel will designate a total of 364 million won (36 million won annually) over the next 10 years to three vocational high schools (industrial track) located in Pyeongtaek City as scholarships for outstanding students and funds for purchasing practical training equipment. The company will also provide students with opportunities to experience industrial sites through in-house instructor school visits, special lectures, and invited tours of steel mills.
Schools will endeavor to select scholarship recipients through fair procedures and nurture talent, while the city will actively promote employment support projects including vocational high school employment support and specialized high school New Deal programs.
Representative Director Ahn Dong-il stated, "I hope this will help cultivate talent that can contribute to the development of steel industry" and added, "We will give attention to helping students realize their dreams and work together to find practical support measures."
Mayor Jeong Jang-seon said, "Taking this agreement as an opportunity, we will further expand cooperation systems with companies and schools and continuously seek policies for nurturing talent that meets industrial demands."
