Uiwang City Holds Graduation Ceremony for Third Urban Regeneration University
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Uiwang City held the "Third Urban Regeneration University Graduation Ceremony" at the city hall annex on the 21st.
The Third Urban Regeneration University was operated with 24 sessions held twice weekly from September 3 to the 19th, with participation from citizens and community activists interested in urban regeneration.
The urban regeneration university provided opportunities to broaden understanding and knowledge of urban regeneration projects, including basic and advanced courses, urban regeneration activist training programs, and special lectures on urban regeneration. In particular, practical and participatory learning focused on the roles residents play in urban regeneration projects was conducted.
At the graduation ceremony, certificates were awarded to 41 graduates from each course track, followed by a time for graduates to present and share the results of their practical work.
The city expects that the graduates will serve leadership roles in urban regeneration projects.
Mayor Kim Sang-don of Uiwang City stated, "Urban regeneration is about revitalizing cities by injecting vitality into urban areas under the leadership of residents," and added, "I hope that the graduates will apply what they have learned and experienced to actively promote urban regeneration projects in the region."
