Osan City Social Cooperative Public Childcare Centers Receive Minister's Award from Ministry of Interior and Safety

[Suwon Ilbo = Reporter Seo Dong-young] Osan City received the Minister of Interior and Safety Award at the 2019 Awards Ceremony for Excellent Cases of Co-production of Administrative Services held on the 28th at Seoul Trade Exhibition Convention Center (SETEC).

The city's "Social Cooperative Public Childcare Centers" were selected as an excellent case after proceeding through the first written screening, second national online screening, and third presentation screening.

The Social Cooperative Public Childcare Centers operate open and participatory childcare centers based on autonomous participation and trust, with parents, teachers, and the local community taking the lead in decision-making to realize a joyful childcare community together.

The city plans to convert six public childcare centers into social cooperatives by 2020 through education and consultations targeting parents and childcare teachers.

Eo Su-ja, Director of Welfare and Education at the city office, who attended the awards ceremony, stated, "We will actively support education and consulting for the transition of public childcare centers to social cooperatives," and added, "We will make efforts to improve the quality of public childcare, activate the operation of open and participatory childcare centers, and create a safe childcare environment."
