Suwon City Tap Water Safe to Drink
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Test results show that Suwon city tap water is safe to drink.
The Suwon Water Works announced on the 2nd that water quality tests conducted twice—from March to May and September to November—at 6,217 locations including restaurants, general shops, and apartment and single-family homes that use large amounts of tap water all received an 'acceptable' rating according to drinking water quality standards.
Eight housewife monitors from civic organizations who received professional water quality testing training conducted the inspections. The monitor staff visited sites and tested tap water for seven items including turbidity, iron, copper, and residual chlorine. While conducting the water quality tests, they also provided guidance to citizens on proper tap water consumption methods.
The Suwon Water Works conducts secondary detailed testing at the water quality testing center if the first on-site inspection receives an 'unacceptable' rating.
If issues are found in the secondary test, the water works identifies the causes in detail together with building managers and seeks improvement measures.
An official from the Suwon Water Works said, "This year we inspected water quality not only at restaurants and large shops but also at apartment and single-family homes," and added, "We will continue conducting tests so that citizens can use tap water with confidence."
