Suwon Mayor Yum Tae-young Attends '9th Korea-Denmark Green Growth Alliance Conference' as Representative of Korean Local Governments
[Suwon Ilbo = Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City announced on the 10th that Mayor Yum Tae-young will attend the '9th Korea-Denmark Green Growth Alliance Conference' being held on the 13th at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Conference Center in Copenhagen as a representative of Korean local governments, and will present 'Suwon City's Strategy for Promoting a Low-Carbon Environmental Capital'.
At the conference, Mayor Yum, Minister of Environment Jo Myung-rae, Denmark's Minister of Environment and Food Lea Wermelin, Denmark's Deputy Minister of Environment and Food Jacob Moller Nielsen, Aarhus Mayor Jacob B. Johansen, South Korean Ambassador to Denmark Park Sang-jin, Director of the Environmental Industry and Technology Institute Nam Gwang-hee, and business representatives from both countries will attend and present and discuss the theme of 'Circular Economy'.
Conference participants plan to discuss topics including low-carbon resource circular cities, green procurement, resource circulation of products, and examples of circular economy business model creation.
After the conference, Mayor Yum will hold talks with Aarhus Mayor Jacob B. Johansen and seek ways to strengthen exchange and cooperation between Korean and Danish local governments. Aarhus is Denmark's second-largest city.
The Korea-Denmark Green Growth Alliance Conference, which began in 2011, is a conference attended by ministerial-level representatives to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the public and private sectors on sustainable development and green growth. It is held alternately between Korea and Denmark once a year.
Mayor Yum Tae-young will arrive in Denmark on the 12th and is scheduled to visit 'State of Green', a public-private cooperation organization for green transition in Denmark.
On the afternoon of the 13th, he plans to tour Northern Europe's largest wastewater treatment plant 'Lynetten' and the eco-friendly combined heat and power plant 'Amager Bakke'. He will return to Korea on the 15th.
Mayor Yum Tae-young said, "Sustainable development and climate change response require cooperation among cities around the world," and added, "I will emphasize the need for cooperation among local governments at this conference."
