Hwaseong Volunteer Fire Brigade Holds Firefighting Skills Competition

The "Volunteer Fire Brigade Firefighting Skills Competition," co-hosted by the Hwaseong Fire Department and the Hwaseong Volunteer Fire Brigade Federation, was held at Biobong Sports Park on the 9th.
The competition was organized to enhance the on-site response capabilities of volunteer firefighters and promote unity. Participating members demonstrated swift response and cooperation through training that simulated actual disaster situations.
The event was attended by over 430 people, including Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jung Myeong-geun, Hwaseong Special City Council President Lee Gye-cheol, Hwaseong Fire Chief Jung Gwi-yong, and firefighting personnel and volunteer firefighters. They shared firefighting techniques and reinforced unity.
Mayor Jung Myeong-geun, who attended the event, said, "I extend my gratitude for the dedication of volunteer firefighters who are a reliable pillar protecting the lives and property of citizens. Following the top awards in two categories at the Gyeonggi Province Firefighting Skills Competition in April, you demonstrated skilled techniques and solid teamwork today as well."

He continued, "In response to growing firefighting demands, we will support the expansion of firefighting infrastructure including the Hwaseong East Fire Station and the Mado Chemical Rescue 119 Safety Center, and provide support so that volunteer firefighters can carry out their activities with pride."
Meanwhile, the Hwaseong Special City Volunteer Fire Brigade is an organization established in 2008 to assist with firefighting operations. It consists of 438 male volunteer firefighters, 359 female volunteer firefighters, 9 dedicated members (Gukhwado), and 16 multicultural members.
