Suwon City Holds Performance Report Conference for Community Welfare Council
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City and the Suwon Community Welfare Council held the '2019 Suwon City Community Welfare Council Performance Report Conference' at 2 p.m. on the 17th at the Suwon Convention Center, sharing the achievements made over the past year.
The event was held under the subtitle '8-2 PEOPLE' to celebrate together the achievements made by the 8th Suwon City Community Welfare Council and the 2nd Community Welfare Council by district, and to reaffirm the determination to complete a stronger people-centered welfare city of Suwon.
The conference proceeded with awards for contributors to activating the city council and district councils and outstanding districts, followed by reports on best practices and city council activity results.
In the 'Evaluation of Human Safety Net Operations by District Community Welfare Council,' Hwaseo 1-dong in Paldal-gu was selected as the top award winner, while Yeongdeungpo 1-dong in Yeongdeungpo-gu and Yulcheon-dong in Jangan-gu were selected as excellence award winners.
Hwaseo 1-dong received the top award for its contributions to sharing with neighbors in need through the ▲More Dream Sharing Bike Operation Project and ▲Homemade Soybean Paste Making Project for Mom's Hands. Yeongdeungpo 1-dong received favorable evaluations by carrying out ▲Our Apartment Hope Guardian Project and ▲Welfare Resource Support and Sharing Project for activities of people with disabilities and others.
Yulcheon-dong received positive responses for programs including ▲Warm Hands, Love Scarf Delivery Ceremony targeting seniors, ▲Underprivileged Class Traditional Red Pepper Paste Making, and ▲Lunar New Year Love Rice Cake Sharing Project.
In addition, in the 'Evaluation of Visiting Health and Welfare Services,' Maesan-dong in Paldal-gu was selected as the top award winner, while Uman 1-dong in Paldal-gu and Pyeong-dong in Gwonseon-gu were selected as excellence award winners.
A city official stated, "We express our gratitude to the members of the Suwon City Community Welfare Council and the 44 district community welfare councils who have worked to improve the quality of life for residents over the past year," and added, "We expect the community welfare council to play a pivotal role in realizing a welfare community where citizens are the main actors. The city will do its best to create a stronger welfare city going forward."
Meanwhile, the city was selected as an outstanding local government for six consecutive years, including winning the 'top award' on December 9th in the 'Community Welfare Plan Establishment' category evaluated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
