Suwon to Hold 'Urban Park Policy Symposium' on the 15th
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Urban park experts and citizens will seek the direction for Suwon's urban park policies.
The Suwon Research Institute for Urban Policy and the Korean Institute of Landscape Architecture will host the 'Suwon Urban Park Policy Symposium' on the 15th at 2 p.m. in the Nantes Room on the 3rd floor of Novotel Ambassador Suwon.
The symposium, hosted and organized by the Korean Institute of Landscape Architecture and the Suwon Research Institute for Urban Policy with support from Suwon City, will feature expert presentations and comprehensive discussions under the theme 'Are Aging Urban Parks Acceptable as They Are?'
Presentations will include An Seung-hong, chair of the Parks and Greenery Research Committee at the Korean Institute of Landscape Architecture, on 'Issues and Regeneration Strategies for Aging Urban Parks'; Choi Shin-hyun, CEO of Citopos, on 'Thoughts on 21st Century Urban Park Regeneration Through Northwest Seoul Dream Forest'; and Jung Soo-jin, research fellow at the Suwon Research Institute for Urban Policy, on 'Aging Urban Park Regeneration Plans for Suwon City.'
The discussion will be moderated by Jo Se-hwan, emeritus professor at Hanyang University, with participation from landscape architecture experts including O Ki-young, director of Suwon City's Park Management Division; Kim Yeon-geum, director of the Landscape Studio Ul; Lee Sang-min, head of the Landscape Center at the Architecture and Urban Space Research Institute; and Lee Min-woo, professor at Kongju National University.
A city official stated, "We hope the symposium will be of great help to the city and district park and greenery departments in promoting improvement projects."
Meanwhile, the city is conducting 'Research on Aging Urban Park Regeneration Plans for Suwon City' as a policy project of the Suwon Research Institute for Urban Policy, and plans to establish guidelines to provide improvement manuals by setting aging standards and presenting improvement measures.
