Jangan-gu Installs and Operates Fine Dust Display Boards at Large Construction Sites
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Jangan-gu, Suwon City, has decided to install and operate fine dust display boards at large construction sites, including reconstruction projects and large-scale special management construction sites, to improve air quality caused by high concentrations of fine dust.
The district will begin installation at the reconstruction construction site in Jowon-dong and sequentially install display boards at construction sites registered as large-scale projects.
When fine dust concentration levels are displayed as high, immediate measures such as additional operation of water spray facilities, installation of dust prevention covers, and operation of water spray trucks are taken to suppress dust emissions. The district also plans to reduce construction site operating hours when emergency reduction measures are issued.
The district has established and is actively promoting a "2020 Fine Dust Management Comprehensive Plan" that includes promoting and implementing fine dust reduction in daily life, strengthening dust emission management at construction sites, managing fine dust in the transportation sector, and pushing forward with vehicle exhaust emission crackdowns, which are a major cause of air pollution.
The district plans to focus on pre-education and public relations efforts, including distributing emergency reduction manuals in response to high-concentration fine dust at construction sites with dust emissions and placing management cards on-site.
Yi Bong-ha, head of the Environmental Sanitation Division, said, "We will continue our efforts to improve air quality through special education and guidance on fine dust reduction, inspections, and regular crackdowns."
