[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City announced Tuesday that it will temporarily close senior centers, social welfare facilities, and indoor public sports facilities from the 3rd to 9th to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Suwon Mayor Yim Tae-young revealed this decision through his SNS on the 3rd and explained that only 'user-access facilities' among social welfare facilities will be closed, while 'residential facilities (or living facilities requiring accommodation and meals)' will remain open with only external visitor access restricted.

The indoor public sports facilities in Suwon include the National Sports Center, Suwon Gymnasium, Seo-Suwon Chilbo Sports Complex, Seoho Sports Center, Gwanggyo Sports Center, Beolter Sports and Culture Center, Yeonghung Park Indoor Sports Facility, Seo-Suwon Guun Gymnasium, Gwonseon Central Sports Complex, Sukji Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, Maetan Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, Sports Association Hall (fitness), and Manseok Park Badminton Exclusive Stadium.

However, the V-League professional volleyball matches at Suwon Gymnasium will proceed with thermal imaging cameras, masks, and hand sanitizers provided.

Meanwhile, following confirmation on the 2nd that a Cheoncheon-dong resident in Suwon became the nation's 15th confirmed novel coronavirus patient, the city decided to temporarily close all childcare facilities in Suwon from the 3rd to 9th.

Currently, there is one confirmed patient in Suwon City, with two suspected cases under investigation.
